Isn't it lovely? Keep your eyes open for more new banners in the future.
I made the old banner at work a couple years ago (I'm sure it's not why I got laid off!) When I left my last job I had to leave my cool software behind. It was very sad indeed!
I've missed that software desperately. I really liked that part of my old job. I used to put hair on bald co-workers, make people glow in the dark, create logos, banners, website graphics and icons.
Well the other evening I was sitting on the sofa and Peter came in the room (he's been here this week helping me get my house ready for the market) and he said.. "I have a present for you!"
Then he handed me a pretty hot pink silicone keyboard cover. Of course it didn't fit my keyboard, but it WAS a pretty color so I thanked him for it. Then he said, "I have ANOTHER present for you!" He left the room and came back with a copy of Photoshop CS5. How exciting! I love Photoshop!! I got all excited.. then I noticed it was a Mac version. How very sad. :( I was trying to figure out how to tell him I don't have a MAC and that he bought the wrong version. I hemmed and I hawed and I pondered how to turn this lovely gift down. I was getting sadder by the moment as visions of editing photographs faded from my dreams. Then he said, "Wait! I have another present!" He left the room and came back with large box. In that box was a 21" iMac.
Oh my gosh! It's so cool! I've never had a Mac before. I'm struggling with it a bit. I'm a pc girl from the beginning of time. I keep looking for the right click, I really miss the backspace key. But other than that - it's really really neat.
After I got it all set up, Peter added one more thing, "Now you can edit my photos for me!" I knew there must be an ulterior motive! Oh well, it's so worth it!

What a mess!
I am living in a war zone. I don't like it one bit!
Why is it that making things better always involves such chaos and mess?
These pictures don't do it justice at all, and it seems apparent I need to use a better camera but I think you still get the idea.
I guess it's time to stop whining and complaining and get to work. In theory - I'm putting a "For Sale" sign in the yard in about about 27 days and I need all the time I can get to make order out of this chaos. Thank goodness for unpaid furlough days (not!).

I'm painting my laundry room. It's a small room and it was full of stuff. The stuff had to go somewhere while I painted so it's gone to the living room, the dining room and the kitchen. The problem is that I'm also repairing the walls in the dining room so that I can paint THEM. So the stuff in the dining room which was already pushed to the middle of the room is now joined by more stuff that is displaced.

The migration begins!
This weekend I hauled my trailer up to Peters. It was a quick trip - up yesterday, home today. I also stuffed the trailer with a bed and a shed (hah! that rhymes!), The first official moving of stuff north. How exciting and scarey!
I wasn't looking forward to pulling my trailer through Seattle traffic by myself and as it turned out I ended up with a passenger. I had a friend who had a friend in Seattle she wanted to go see. It worked out so well! She rode along keeping me company, helping me see to change lanes, keeping me calm and assisting in the cursing of other drivers. In fact, here is one conversation:
Me, as this guy cut us off for no good reason: You Ass! Did you see what he just did?
She: Yes! He is an ass!!
What a good friend! I don't think she saw the incident at all.. but she cheerfully agreed with me!
I dumped her unceremoniously at Walmart in Lynwood and continued my journey alone. I picked her up on the way back today. It was nice to have the company and she got to spend some quality time with an old friend.
When I arrived at Peter's house, the plan was to park the trailer in the barn. My trailer is, after all, 20 years old and starting to show it's age. Being out of the weather will be good for it. Peter has spent the last few days clearing out the barn so that I could park the trailer in it. The problem was, when Peter wasn't looking, his nephew parked his car in front of the barn door and went away for a few days. The nephew thoughtfully left the key behind, but not the instructions on disabling the anti-theft system.
We were unable to move the car. It was all very frustrating.
I ended up having to leave my trailer parked in a most inconvenient place. It's definately in the way and Peter does not have a vehicle to move it with once the way is clear into the barn. It will be interesting to see what happens next...
3/15/11 - update - Trailer made it into the barn!

No goats for me. Nope.
I just don’t have the stomach for it. I’ve been reading.
Yesterday I was convinced that Pygora goats were for me. They are a cross between a pygmy and an angora goat. They produce lovely fiber and adequate milk for a small operation. They are too small for meat goats and they are the friendliest and cutest of all goats.
Yesterday I was excited and looking forward to having these lovely little creatures in my life.
Today I read about kidding and weaning and girl goats vs. boy goats.
Today I read about vaccinations and diseases and feeding requirements.
Today I read about castration.
Today I have decided not to have goats.
